Before the week draws to a close, I had a couple of miscellaneous points I wanted to touch on....

• I ended last night with some rather ambiguous blather about the CBOE Market Volatility Index (VIX). Today I see that Adam Warner has some much more intelligent comments. Check out his post - Bicentennial VIX Parade...
• Yesterday I looked into Monsanto Company (MON) and said it would be encouraging to see some signs of skepticism. Today the stock popped up on the put side of my daily option skews scan. I wouldn't call 1100 contracts a huge influx of skepticism but it is a start.
• For those who read - Is DryShips Inc. (DRYS) Poised for a Turnaround? - the stock is showing a lackluster reaction to today's earnings. However, the stock is still holding above support (see chart below) so I wouldn't yet say the potential turnaround scenario is busted.
