Given the post below, I thought it might useful to dig into today's strongest stocks to see who the actual leaders are. On the Nasdaq it looks like it is some of the severely beaten up situations like Ultrapetrol (Bahamas) Limited (ULTR), Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc. (MDRX), and FCStone Group, Inc. (FCSX) are bouncing back. Each of these stocks is up more than 20%, but as the weekly charts below show, that is only a drop in the bucket compared to what has been lost recently.
On the NYSE, we have some of the high profile financial names at the top of list. Shares of Thornburg Mortgage, Inc. (TMA) are up nearly 25% while Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. (LEH) and National City Corporation (NCC) each gain nearly 20%. A look to the weekly charts below shows the same "drop in the bucket" description applies here to.

My reason for looking at this is to see where the leadership is. In other words, I want to see if the strong stocks look to be the "type" that can get people excited about the market and spur additional buying. In this case, the action seems more dead-cat-bounce'ish than a case of true leadership. I don't think people are going to get excited about seeing Thornburg and FCStone Group trading higher. Hopefully I am wrong...
